I was delighted when I found these Vernon Kilns May Flower Vernonware Plates, Bread and butter plates with Copeland Spode Cups from the 1940’s. While this set can be used all year round; but it is especially beautiful for Fall and Thanksgiving, especially since it uses brown and cranberry colors so beautifully!

It looks like a bouquet you might gather in your hands as you walk along an old mountain road. There’s something soothing about thoughts like that. An embossed rope-like border goes around the edge of each piece.

The pieces are in good condition, especially considering that they are somewhere around 80 years old. You will see in the last picture that one cup has some discoloration and the back of one bread and butter plate has a chip. It does NOT show from the front. Please look at the pictures they are part of the description.

These set of dishes are rare vintage dishes that you can pass down to your children in the future. I didn’t include the bottom beige plate or the glass chargers that are pictured in the video because they both are expensive ($250) and I didn’t want to run up the cost on this table setting if it wasn’t necessary. Maybe you have some solid beige plates (It really is a great staple for every home because they go with so many luncheon plates.) that you can use with this table setting, if you don’t call me and I’ll see what I can do.
As you will see in the video,
I didn’t stack the smaller 6.5 inch bread and butter plate on top of the dinner plate. It covered too much of the delightful pattern on the dinner plate, which is described on the back as “hand painted under glaze”. By putting the bread and butter plate at the top of the knives, the visual picture was expanded on the table. I really liked the look!
The Special Saucer
(If you haven’t read the post or watched the video, then you haven’t heard about this special saucer. Here’s the link.) I had planned to sell the SPECIAL Spode Copeland cup and saucer set separately, but this set just wouldn’t be complete without it! This is what I suggest you do. Decide who you want to honor. Then give them the special saucer. Explain this is a special saucer. It’s the only one like it. And you are one of a kind. I want each of us to tell you something that we love about you. If you want you could pass the cup and saucer to the next person and repeat until everyone is honored.
Maybe you’ve been collecting beautiful dishes
